Humanitarian Day 2025 Celebrated in Amsterdam

Amsterdam hosted a heartfelt Humanitarian Day ceremony recognizing three changemakers whose work advances

Human Rights and community well-being: Shantha Dalumagage (Mission Lanka, Sri Lanka),

Morgana Sythove (Global Trustee, United Religions Initiative), and Ineke Hilhorst

(documentary maker and social innovator in the Netherlands). The awards were presented by

Gerbrig Deinum, Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology Amsterdam.

  • Shantha Dalumagage – Human rights education with United for Human Rights/Youth for Human Rights; projects in rural education, women’s empowerment, clean water, sanitation, free legal aid, and advocacy against ecocide.
  • Morgana Sythove – Interfaith bridge-builder with URI; speaker at the Parliament of the World’s Religions (Barcelona, Toronto); advocate for eco-spiritual communities, women’s rights, and ecological justice.
  • Ineke Hilhorst – Creator of “living monuments” like Vreemde Vogels (Amsterdam) and De Drie Mannetjes (Laren) with year-round dialogues and education; active support for refugees.

The event was inspired by the humanitarian vision of L. Ron Hubbard, emphasizing service, dignity,

and practical help for others—values reflected in the awardees’ work across interfaith cooperation, social inclusion,

and the promotion of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
